JUST OLD PENCILS!

Unbelievable! This is really something!

I hope you enjoy the show and get something out of it like I did.  (How did he keep from breaking the lead all the time?)

When I saw the alphabet I thought that was about it, but no it was just the beginning .

JUST OLD PENCILS!

A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE BOX:
1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK .
2.) YOU CAN ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE.
3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU.
4.) IN LIFE , YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENINGS, WHICH WILL ONLY MAKE YOU BETTER.
5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.
We all need to be constantly sharpened. This parable may encourage you to know that you are a special person, with unique talents and abilities.
Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish.
Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what's inside of you.

Our India Trip - Our journey to the apartment we would be staying at was about 20 minutes.  It was dark and everything looked really dismal and dirty. Reached at about 3 a.m.  The apartment was quite good, with fridge and microwave but really everything was really old.  It was comfortable and homely though.  We managed to sleep a couple of hours and was awakened to the sounds of crows cawing and the church bells playing the 'Angelus' at 6 a.m. Brendon and I went to church.  The roads were quite empty at 7.15  in the morning, the shops still closed.

I was happy to be in St. Peter's church again.  it's the church we used to go to and the church Brendon and I married in and our children Samantha and Brett had their First communion. I did not like the stray dogs that enter the church and lie down in between the pews.  Mass is the same here with the new liturgy.  You can take a look at this beautiful church with the virtual tour.  It's awesome.  It's designed on the style of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and the altar has real gold inlay donated by the parishioners long ago.St. Peter's church Bandra, virtual tour.
Enjoy the beautiful stained glass windows and architecture.

After mass we thought we would go shopping for breakfast; everything was closed.  This was new to me.  I remember taking the kids to school and everything was open at 8.30 a.m. and before.  the only place open was Amrut Sagar - where you could eat breakfast.  We decided to go home and come out again but we found 'Nature's Basket' a grocery store on the ground floor of the building we were staying at was open.  This is a new store, did not exist when we were in Mumbai.  We managed to get cereal, instant coffee, bread etc but the prices were expensive as most of the stuff except bread and fruit and vegetables is imported.

It looked better in the morning in the sunshine.  The roads soon got busy.  We all went out after breakfast to the phone store to get Indian cards installed for our stay here.  It was so hot!! And so crowded!!!

Our India Trip

April 30th Tuesday - So glad I moved my music lessons and was free for the day; there were so many little things to take care of last minute stuff that had to be packed and organizing everything for our ledest daughter Samantha.  She could not get leave and would be joining us later.  We left for the airport at 6.45 p.m. Sam drove us and our friend Benoy - we were 5 of us with a lot of suitcases! The flight to Frankfurt was good -Air Canada- very smooth.  Food not bad; the wine was good - I don't eat or drink much on a flight. I'm glad i had a neck pillow and took along my long pillow too for my back.  At Frankfurt, at security check, they threw away my lens cleaning liquid.  I had put it in my hand luggage as I thought I might need it.  Service was good on this flight Lufthansa but the seats were really cramped - no leg room and i was quite sore.  The German beer was good! Couldn't sleep on the flight so I watched Runaway Bride, Quartet, Parental Guidance and I love Lucy. Arrived in Mumbai at 1 a.m.Thursday morning ( 17 hrs flying time) The rush of moist heat was stifling and the baggage took forever to arrive.  We were surrounded by people wanting to help with the baggage and get tipped.  We took a prepaid taxi; the drive was not too bad because the roads were not too busy at 3 .am. We arrived at the apartment we are staying.  It's a nice, comfortable 3 bedroom home with a big living room with place for extra beds for when my parents and Sam and Uncle would arrive.

Keep Christ in Christmas

Why should we say Happy Holidays?  On TV they say 'Happy Hannukah' and 'Happy Diwali' Why is it when it comes to Christmas it is not politically correct to say 'Merry Christmas'?  Christmas is the birth of Christ and nothing can change that so it's 'Merry Christmas' with a capital 'C'

I wish You Jesus

Here's another song i did on the keyboard for St.Clare's school choir.  The words are just so beautiful. You can listen to my recording by clicking on the link
http://www.zshare.net/audio/90680103adfbcfd0/
 I WISH YOU JESUS.

I could wish you joy and peace

to last your whole life long.

I could wish you sunshine

or a cheerful little song.

I wish you all the happiness

that this life could bring.

But I wish you Jesus (x3 ) more than anything.

                                 2

I could wish you leaves of gold

or may your path be smooth

I could wish you treasures

so that all your dreams come true.

I wish you all the paradise

 that every day be free.

But I wish you Jesus ( x3 )  more than anything.

For when I wish you Jesus I wish you everything.

My Life is available to you

I recorded this song 'My life is available to you' (by Bishop T.D. Jakes)  for our St. Clare's elementary school choir where I volunteer with the choir .http://www.zshare.net/audio/891879980391cb8f/ . When you arrive on the page do not click play (that is for videos) , the music will play. I've used our school keyboard and recorded the tracks and then played live on the piano when the choir sang. I had been to the Toronto mass Choir Power Up Gospel Music Workshop with our youth choir and we learned this song and sang it at the concert on the final day. Here are the lyrics; I think they are beautiful
Holy, Lord You're holy.
Holy, Lord You're holy.
Worthy, Lord You're worthy.
Worthy, Lord You're worthy.

Chorus 1
And I'll praise You Lord,
for You are my strength and reward.
I'm lost without You,
Your love pulls me through,
my life is available to You.

Verse 2
Awesome, Lord You're awesome.
Awesome, Lord You're awesome.
Righteous, Lord You're righteous.
Righteous, Lord You're righteous.

Chorus 1

Chorus 2
And I'll serve You Lord,
for You are my strength and reward.
I'm lost without You,
Your love pulls me through,
my life is available to You.

Hallelujah - Easter version by Kelley Mooney

i love this version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.  It tells the story of the passion, death and resurrection of our Lord, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guhr0Vh2hE0  Here are the lyrics:
Lyrics To Hallelujah by Kelly Mooney
Adapted to the music of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah

A crown of thorns placed on His head
He knew that He would soon be dead
He said did you forget me Father did you?
They nailed Him to a wooden cross
Soon all the world would feel the loss
Of Christ the King before His Hallelujah

Hallelujah x4

He hung His head and prepared to die
Then lifted His face up to the sky
Said I am coming home now Father to you
A reed which held His final sip
Was gently lifted to his lips
He drank His last and gave His soul to glory

Hallelujah x4

The soldier who had used his sword
To pierce the body of our Lord
Said truly this is Jesus Christ our Savior
He looked with fear upon his sword
Then turned to face his Christ and Lord
Fell to his knees crying Hallelujah

Hallelujah x4

Took from his head the thorny crown
And wrapped him in a linen gown
And laid him down to rest inside the tomb
The holes in his hands, his feet and side
Now in our hearts we know he died
To save us from ourselves oh hallelujah

Hallelujah x4

Three days went by again they came
To move the stone to bless the slain
With oil and spice anointing hallelujah
But as they went to move the stone
They saw that they were not alone
But Jesus Christ has risen Hallelujah

Hallelujah x4
Hallelujah x4

Handpainted Bookmarks

My mother has painted these bookmarks in acrylic paint and hand written inspirational quotes or verses from scripture.  I'm so proud of her; inspite of the stroke she had two years ago, she paints and still loves to do crafts.  These bookmarks are laminated so they will last.  They are for sale at $5 each.

Christmas card

Found some of my drawings and paintings i did when I was a child and in school.  My family always painted our own cards for family and friends at Christmas and Easter.  This is a card I was probably trying out.  It's done in oil pastel crayon colors.

My logo and jewelry tag

I had been working with this idea for a very long time.  I believe my talent with art - crafts and music is a gift from God and I truly believe that He gives me the inspiration for the music I play, the jewelry I design and the crafts I do.  My logo is an open heart; one part of the heart forms the letter 'C' the way I sign and the dove inside is the Holy Spirit.  The open heart means the love and flowing out and expressed in whatever I do.  I do draw and paint too so I did the initial drawing and sent it to my dad - who is a very professional fine artist and commercial artist and a gold medal winner - to perfect.  He scanned it and emailedit back to me.  I had a lot of learning to do so i could remove the scanned edge of the paper and get it transparent so only the drawing would be visible.  I'm happy I was able to do it.
Here's a picture of the completed tag.  I printed it out on my computer,  it's on cream card and my favorite lettering and color- a deep wine color for my name 'CherieXpressions' .  The idea for the name actually came when talking with a friend.  Cherie is the name my family and friends have alwasys called me and Expressions covers anything in art - music, crafting, jewelry designing, etc - anything art I chose to do.  The tags have my website (which I hope to get up and running soon), my blog and email and phone number.  It's a double fold card so my jewelry can hang in between.  Behind the front I've printed how to care for your jewelry.

Music

Got this from the Royal Conservatory of Music email to me this morning about their store. It's a quotation by Beethoven and it's so true and beautiful,  I thought I'd share this with you.

Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.

Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks, and invents.

-Ludwig van Beethoven

What a wonderful world!

Just received this video from a friend this morning.  Listening to it brought to mind the song made famous by Louis Armstrong - What a wonderful world.  I was so moved by this video I want to share it and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have.  'All of creation tells of His wonders'

Suffering Savior

This painting is one of many of the face of Christ done by my mother, Yvonne Pereira.  Her parish priest chose this one for himself.
I love this painting, it's so beautiful and it really shows the sadness and suffering that Jesus is going through for us.
